Description – Superb dark green, smooth leaved variety for both baby leaf and full sized. Use raw in salads and sandwiches or as a steamed vegetable.
Sowing – March to August outdoors, in well prepared soil in a sunny spot. Sow thinly in either narrow or broad drills, 13mm (½in) deep and 30cm (12in) apart. Suitable for successional sowings throughout the year.
Growing – Thin seedlings to 5cm (2in) apart for baby leaves and 10cm (4in) for larger plants. Keep well watered to avoid bolting (running to seed). Height 5-7cm (2-3in) baby leaf and 15-20cm (6-8in) full sized.
Harvest – May to October
