Description – The highest quality sunflowers! Ready to flower within just 12 weeks of sowing; can be sown directly outdoors too! A premium cut flower, plants make many side branches, so you’ll have an endless supply!
Sowing – Sow thinly, 12mm (½in) deep in drills 45cm (18in) apart in well cultivated soil raked to a fine tilth or direct into small containers. Germination takes around 21 days. When large enough to handle, thin to 30-45cm (12-18in) apart. For earlier flowering sow indoors, individually in 7.5cm (3in) pots at 20-25C (68-77F). When well grown, gradually acclimatise to outdoor conditions before planting out after all risk of frost into borders or containers.
Aftercare – The green buds before the flower opens are delicious cooked in butter, the nutty flavoured petals add colour contrast to salads, and ripe seeds make a tasty snack.
Flowers – June to September
